We use high-density D-sub connectors from the AMP-TE AMPLIMITE 0.50 Series, which can be purchased from any of the large online distributors (e.g. Farnell, Digikey, Mouser). Each connector has the four outermost pins grounded, leaving 64 and 96 pins remaining for carrying signals on the CAB8 and CAB12, respectively. These pins are ordered top-to-bottom and right-to-left when the connectors on both ends of the cable are oriented similarly, as shown below.
